Distinctive
Curriculum
Acquisition of High-Quality Nursing Practice Skills
Through a combination of lectures, seminars, and practicums, we enhance reasoning skills.
As represented by our university’s logo, "Humanity Striding Towards the Future," we aim to develop professionals who can transform the knowledge and trust gained through interactions with many people into the energy to soar into the future. The Department of Nursing Science is structured to equip students with high-quality practical abilities, enabling them to understand societal changes and continue learning autonomously. The curriculum enhances erudition through a variety of subjects including humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. From the first to the third year, we evolve reasoning skills through a sequence of lectures, seminars, and practicums, and in the fourth year, we strengthen investigative skills through self-designed integrated practicums and graduation research.
Strengthening Investigative Skills for Future-Oriented Personnel Development
Nurses who actively identify issues and create and implement solutions are essential.
Practicums are the core and most crucial form of education in nursing training. In the final year, students independently design their integrated practicums. "Students set their own problems," and "by being curious about nursing phenomena and using research methods, they identify practical and clinical issues," through the experience of gathering information, planning, investigating, and presenting. This prepares them to autonomously discover and solve problems even after graduation.
Overseas Training
Aiming to develop nurses who can respond to globalization!
With the goal of cultivating a foundation for practicing nursing from a global perspective, we conduct overseas training. At Chiang Mai University in Thailand, our training host, we attend lectures on local health challenges, the healthcare system, and nursing education. Additionally, visiting medical facilities and experiencing the local community life and different cultures allows us to consider various health-related perspectives. Visiting an NGO that supports LGBTQ (sexual minorities) has been an opportunity to re-acknowledge the delays in Japan’s initiatives.

Nurse
(Kansai Medical University General Medical Center)Dedicated to providing patient-centered,
compassionate care.Through university classes and discussions, I learned and cultivated proactivity and responsibility. During job hunting, I used the career center to not only consult about my anxieties but also received precise advice that helped me move forward confidently. Understanding myself through self-analysis and being able to present myself honestly in interviews was crucial. The Kansai Medical University General Medical Center, where I work, offers advanced medical services and training systems to refine nursing skills and knowledge. I aspire to be a nurse who sincerely engages with each patient.

Public Health Nurse
(Osaka City)Diligently and sincerely obtained both nursing and
public health nursing licenses.。During my university life, I balanced living alone, working part-time, and studying for the two national exams for nursing and public health nursing. I developed the habit of prioritizing tasks and diligently engaging in each class, seminar, and practicum. This diligence is beneficial as a public health nurse faced with multiple challenges. Osaka City, a government-designated city, offers experiences in both public health centers and health offices, which I find appealing. My future goal is to contribute diligently and sincerely as a public health nurse, helping local residents lead better lives.

Nurse
(Nara Prefectural University Hospital)Providing nursing that allows patients and their families to focus on treatment with peace of mind.
During the irregular area practicum amid the COVID-19 pandemic, I faced challenges with the symptoms and nursing care of my assigned patients. By reading various literature and actively asking questions to instructors and seniors, I learned how to handle situations without confusion. Nara Prefectural University Hospital, a special function hospital, offers an education system unique to university hospitals and the opportunity to acquire specialized, high-quality nursing skills and knowledge. Despite the busy work environment, I strive to provide nursing that respects the values of patients and their families and helps them concentrate on treatment.

Midwife
(Yamatotakada City Hospital)Aspiring to be a midwife who can support mothers and their families.
The educational system at my university, which allows simultaneous acquisition of both nurse and midwife national qualifications, is attractive. Despite the tough conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to solidify my learning through practicums, classes, and national exam studies. Yamatotakada City Hospital has a warm atmosphere that is community-oriented, and the ease of interdisciplinary collaboration made me want to work there. During interviews, I promoted my experiences in the brass band club during middle and high school, where I worked with teammates towards common goals. I aim to be a midwife who supports mothers and their families.
